Our Women's Health Psychology service aims to support wahine in our care to make changes to their physical health, promote their general well-being, and cope with mental distress.

Your care team

Our team is made of clinical psychologists who have post-graduate university qualifications in psychology that are based on theory, practice and research. All our psychologists are registered with the NZ Psychologists Board() and do ongoing training and education to make sure their knowledge of theory and practice is up to date. Our work is guided by the New Zealand Psychological Society's Code of Ethics.

How we can help

We can meet you one-on-one, with your partner or with your whanau and talk about ways to help with:

  • Making choices about treatment
  • Pain management strategies
  • Adjusting to a health condition
  • Dealing with stress and ways of coping (strategies)
  • Lifestyle planning
  • Individual, couple, and family therapy about the health condition
  • Sexuality and relationship intimacy concerns

Gynaecological support

We see women coping with a range of gynaecology conditions including:

  • Menopause
  • Pelvic pain, antenatal pain and endometriosis
  • Genital pain conditions such as vaginismus and vulvodynia
  • Cervical, vulval and ovarian conditions
  • Hysterectomy
  • Cancer treatment and radiation therapy
  • Sexuality concerns following treatment
  • Complex adolescent gynaecological conditions
